What is Healing?

Excellent question for me as a coach and
psychotherapist...
During my education, we did an exercise to find our mission as a
therapist. Connected to that we had to find a symbol for ourselves.
Mine was a lamp. As a lamp, my mission was to enlighten people. You
can interpret that in several ways. In the first place, it means
showing people a path to grow and possibly towards enlightenment. On
the other hand, it meant that I wanted to bring light to people's
lives, help them to heal themselves.
Those two parts have become pivotal in the Integral way of therapy
that I am trying to do: healing and growth. I believe you need to
heal certain parts in your history before you can grow further. For
instance, if we have experienced something traumatic in our youth
that still has an impact in our life today, it may prevent us from
growing further in a healthy way. The foundation must be strong in
order to be able to support the building that rests on it. Therefore,
I propose healing of the most relevant parts of our development (that
is, as far as they are apparently blocking our well-being at this
moment - I am not a fan of never-ending therapy and workshops to dig
up all small things that may be out there) and only after that going
through growth. Growth without healing is no option - it will make
us collapse in the end.
Healing and growth are the basic parts of the path to enlightenment.
